Paddling Hawley Lake

Hawley Lake’s size makes it easy to explore the shoreline, small coves and fishing areas without traveling across miles of open water. Large, high-speed watercraft are uncommon, and small boats with electric motors are allowed, helping preserve the lake’s quiet mountain atmosphere. Paddlers should remember that Hawley Lake is located on tribal land and requires a White Mountain Apache Boat and Watercraft Permit, currently listed at $10 per day. A separate tribal fishing permit is required for anyone planning to fish.

Camping and Cabins at Hawley Lake

Paid camping is available in designated areas near Hawley Lake. A daily camping permit currently costs $15 per vehicle and covers up to eight occupants. Campers should purchase the proper tribal permit and confirm current campground conditions before traveling.

For visitors who prefer indoor lodging, Hawley Lake Cabins offers furnished one- to five-bedroom cabins that accommodate approximately two to fourteen guests. Most cabins are within walking distance of Hawley Lake or nearby Earl Park Lake, making them a convenient option for a longer fishing and paddling trip.
